Greenhouse Gas Research in the UK:
Developing a National Strategy

Community meeting organised by the NERC Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Feedback Programme
University of Leeds, 10-11 Jan 2017 (Tue/Wed)

This community meeting aims to get feedback from the greenhouse gas (GHG) research community on priorities for future capabilities. The main outcome of the meeting and subsequent dialogue will be a strategy for future GHG research and monitoring in the UK. For information on venue, travel, registration etc., please see the main meeting page.

Draft agenda

The purpose of this community meeting is to exchange ideas and identify concrete key needs for future UK GHG research, and to explore opportunities and developments in related national and international activities. The main result from the meeting and subsequent discussions will be the development of a strategy document for future Strategic Programmes and National Capabilities.

11:15-12:00 Setting the scene
Creative networking and knowledge-pooling activity to focus everybody's mind on the meeting.

12:00-12:45 Keynotes (10 mins) and short presentations (2 min)
Random mix of invited keynote talks, and short presentations from other attendees. All presenters are asked to focus on future needs from the perspective of their own group/institution, less on past/current work

14:15-14:45 Plenary discussion about the presentations
Particularly encouraged are questions and discussions on strategy and future need, less about technical/scientific details.

14:45-15:00 Deciding themes for afternoon breakouts
In plenary, we identify some common themes from the presentations that should be taken up in breakout discussions after coffee.

In plenary, we identify key areas/parts/aspects to focus on in subsequent breakout

Groups are tasked to write a list of bullet points or statements, as concrete as possible, which can feed into a Strategy Document.
